James E. Jennings, PhD, is president of Conscience International ( www.conscienceinternational.org) and executive director of U.S. Academics for Peace. A former professor of Middle East Studies, Jennings has led humanitarian aid and high-level peacemaking activities in Gaza, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, and elsewhere.
