WASHINGTON

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a report today indicating that global climate change is being driven, in part, by corporate factory-farming and industrial meat production. In response, Food & Water Watch Executive Director Wenonah Hauter issued the following statement:

"This report confirms what we've known for a decade or more: Our industrial agricultural system is bad for consumers, bad for family farmers, and bad for our climate. We need to reform our agricultural system by ending the strangle-hold a handful of multinational corporations have over our vast food economy in America. It's time to end factory farming, once and for all. At the end of the day, there is nothing more important than clean, healthy food and water, and a sustainable vision for our environment and our future."

Food & Water Watch mobilizes regular people to build political power to move bold and uncompromised solutions to the most pressing food, water, and climate problems of our time. We work to protect people's health, communities, and democracy from the growing destructive power of the most powerful economic interests.
