Women's Group Reiterates Call for Cuomo's Resignation After New Report Proves Sexual Harassment

New York Attorney General Report Finds Gov. Cuomo sexually Harassed Multiple Women, Including Employees

WASHINGTON

Moments ago, New York Attorney General Letitia James reported that, "Gov. Cuomo sexually harassed several women," at a press conference, adding his behavior constitutes a violation of state and federal law.

In response to the news, Bridget Todd, director of communications at UltraViolet, a leading national women's advocacy organization that called for Cuomo's resignation earlier this year, issued the following statement:

"Months ago, we demanded that Andrew Cuomo resign after allegations of sexual harassment, bullying and retaliatory behavior surfaced from multiple women. Today we are reiterating our call for Cuomo to resign and urge the Democrats who encouraged this investigation by Attorney General James' office to demand accountability from Cuomo immediately. If Cuomo refuses to resign from office, we demand his timely removal by New York Legislators.

"This report proves what we suspected -- Andrew Cuomo is unfit to represent New York State. We implore Democrats who called for this investigation to take the results seriously. Anything less is unacceptable and a flagrant disregard for past, present and future employees and residents of New York State.

"Attorney General James' investigation was based on widespread and credible evidence that Cuomo harassed his former and current employees. We commend AG James for her professionalism and objective work in pursuance of this report.

"We stand with the women who came forward and shared their experiences at great risk to their own safety and well being."

UltraViolet is a powerful and rapidly growing community of people mobilized to fight sexism and create a more inclusive world that accurately represents all women, from politics and government to media and pop culture.
