Today Is the Day to Fight to Save the Internet

'The stakes couldn't be higher: If we lose Net Neutrality we'll lose the most democratic communications platform we've ever had.'

Today Is the Day to Fight to Save the Internet

The Trump FCC — like the rest of this administration — is doing everything in its power to serve corporations and harm the rest of us.

The Trump FCC -- like the rest of this administration -- is doing everything in its power to serve corporations and harm the rest of us. For proof look no further than Chairman Ajit Pai's efforts to destroy the open internet and let companies like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon control what you do and say online.

A former Verizon lawyer, Pai is determined to overturn the Net Neutrality rules that are so essential to preserving free speech and choice. But this Wednesday the internet is fighting back with a nationwide day of action.

Public-interest groups like Free Press Action Fund, the Center for Media Justice, Demand Progress and Fight for the Future are teaming up with companies like Airbnb, Amazon, Etsy, Facebook, Google, Kickstarter, Mozilla, reddit, Spotify and Twitter to pressure the FCC and Congress to leave the Net Neutrality rules alone. All told more than 80,000 websites, online services and internet users are participating in the day of action.

You can take part too -- there are easy-to-use tools that will allow you to call lawmakers and submit a pro-Net Neutrality comment to the FCC. If you have your own site you can go here to add alerts, banner ads and videos.

And don't forget to share the Battle for the Net page on social media. Your friends are more likely to take action if you make this issue personal -- share a Facebook post, tweet or video explaining why you care about Net Neutrality, and remember to use the #NetNeutrality hashtag.

The stakes couldn't be higher: If we lose Net Neutrality we'll lose the most democratic communications platform we've ever had.

Don't let this happen. Join the day of action and show Chairman Pai you don't want his corporate overlords to become the bosses of the internet.
